New York, NY (WFN) -- Remember those predictions of a supposed "Post Sept. 11 Baby Boom" that started coming right after the terrorist tragedy?

Well, it's not gonna happen according to one follower of birth statistics.

Judith Nolte, editor of "American Baby" magazine, says there's no evidence to support the Sept. 11 birth bonanza and any increase in births nine months after the attacks is more likely due to the higher-than-ever number of women of childbearing age.

As an example, she says American women will be popping out 4.4 million babies annually by 2010 -- about as many babies as were born at the height of the post WWII baby boom.

The predicted Sept. 11 baby boom would have started this month and some NYC-area obstetricians are already reporting an increase -- but Nolte believes this is because summer months traditionally have the highest birth rates.

"This would have happened regardless of Sept. 11," she says.
