Flash Lites: Rip 'N' Read Pop Culture Recap

Los Angeles, CA -- "Spider-Man" star Kirsten Dunst is being warned her surging popularity may trap her in a web of unwanted fan attention. Gossip columnist Cindy Adams reports the actress' security team wants her to install metal shutters and other high-tech protection in her Los Angeles home to ward off potential stalkers.

WESTPORT, Conn. -- After years on the silver screen, Paul Newman is taking to the stage. He's set to play the narrator in a summer production of "Our Town" being produced at a playhouse in Westport, Connecticut, where wife Joanne Woodward is artistic director. It isn't nepotism, though: Woodward tells the BBC she never considered her hubby for the role until he lobbied her by reciting the play's opening monologue.

LOS ANGELES -- The rock group No Doubt is stretching its acting muscles by providing voices for "Malice," an upcoming computer game. Singer Gwen Stefani is playing the title character and her bandmates portray her cronies.

NEW YORK -- Looks like "The Bachelor" star Alex Michel made a back room deal with Amanda the night before choosing her on the show. "TV Guide" reports that Alex sounded Amanda out about continuing the relationship without an engagement. He justifies his action by saying "The right thing for us was NOT to be engaged after such a short time."

BURLINGAME, Calif. -- Readers of advice columnist Ann Landers have been buzzing over a recent letter written by a "baffled mom in Burlingame" who fretted about her daughter attending nude slumber parties for girls. Now newspapers in the San Francisco Bay area report they've been receiving the same letter for five years and consider it a hoax.
