'First Rock 'N' Roll Song' Acetates For Sale

Oak Brook, IL (WFN) -- Rock 'n' Roll is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and now a piece of its history is up for grabs -- the acetates of the song "Rocket 88."

Many rock historians believe the 1951 Ike Turner tune is the first ever rock 'n' roll song, and now an Oak Brook, Illinois company is auctioning off its acetates -- the medium which acts as the transitional stage between tape and finished vinyl.

Mastronet spokesman Brian Marren says folks better bid quick, because the online auction closes May 16.

However, Marren admits the acetates would be useless as anything but a nostalgia item, since you'd need both the copyright and the original record pressing equipment to make more copies.
