Washington (WFN) -- Washington's newest septuagenarian, Sen. Ted Kennedy, will be painting the town red from now until Friday (Feb. 22), when he turns 70.

A spokeswoman at Kennedy's Washington office says Ted and friends kicked off his birthday celebration in Boston on Tuesday night, and he'll be celebrating with his Washington cronies later tonight (Feb. 21).

Rounding out the week on Friday, Kennedy will attend a costume party thrown by his wife. However, his spokeswoman does not know what kind of masquerade outfit the senator will wear.

He probably won't wear the same dinosaur outfit he wore to one costume ball, when he called himself "Tyrannosaurus Sex."
