Philadelphia, PA -- "Twist" king Chubby Checker says its about time he was inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame -- and he plan to take matters into his own hands.

The 59-year-old has purchased an ad in "Billboard" magazine appealing to the nominating committee to put him in the Hall.

Checker says he's due the honor because "The Twist" changed the way people danced forever, creating the style he calls "dancing apart to the beat."

If inducted, he plans on requesting a 30-foot statue with the Twist logo be erected in the Hall's courtyard to commemorate his impact on the music industry.

Says Checker: "I want my flowers when I'm alive. I can't smell them when I'm dead."
