Star Wars: Men To Forge Sword From Meteorite

Evanston, IL (WFN) -- Talk about out-of-this-world: A team of Midwestern professors is planning to forge a sword out of a meteorite.

Later this spring, engineers from Northwestern and Purdue will extract iron from a meteorite and create an alloy that supposedly is stronger than any other blade.

Project director Greg Olson claims the broadsword will be "probably the most lethal blade in history," able to slice through even a samurai sword.

The team hopes to eventually auction off the super sword -- dubbed the "Dragonslayer" -- to a collector, with the money going to charity.
