North Pole, AK (WFN) -- Thanks to some North Pole volunteers, Santa Claus won't have the "runs" this year.

That's because some bright volunteers restoring the "World's Largest Santa Statue" were smart enough to know paint doesn't stick in sub-zero temperatures.

The 48-foot tall statue was built for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair and made its way to the town of North Pole, Alaska, where it has sat deteriorating ever since.

To keep the paint from running a 60-foot high tent was built around Santa that keeps the temperature at 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

The restoration by Hampton Hotels is expected to be completed sometime today (Dec. 12).
