Blind Folks Get Chance To Touch Bare-Bummed Statue

Birmingham, AL -- Residents in Birmingham, Alabama, with vision impairment will soon get a chance to feel just how big their city's mascot is.

For years, the 56-foot-high iron statue of the god Vulcan has stood on a mountain top over Birmingham -- but now it's being taken down from its perch and disassembled for repairs.

As an added bonus, several Birmingham groups for the visually impaired will host a series of tours where blind folks can feel the statue from head to toe.

The cheeky part is, although Vulcan wears a toga, his rear end is exposed -- meaning some tourists may get more than a handful.
