Piano-Tuning Striking A Chord With Women

Morgan Hill, CA (WFN) -- Piano tuning is striking a chord with women -- more ladies than ever are doing it these days.

That's according to Gabrielle Borgnino, director of the American School of Piano Tuning, who says there's a need for piano tuners to replace the ones who are now dying out.

She says young mothers are especially suited for piano tuning, because it allows them to make their own schedule.

Borgnino says the current robust economy is music to a piano tuner's ears because most piano owners only get their keyboards tuned during good times -- even though experts recommend doing it twice a year.

Although piano tuners earn as much as $95 an hour, perfect pitch isn't necessary these days because electronic tuning instruments do almost all the dirty work.
