» What's In The Bags?
Jose comes up to the Mexican border on his bicycle, with two large bags over his shoulders.
The guard stops him and asks, "What's in the bags?"
"Sand," replies Jose.
"We'll see about that! Get off the bike!" demands the guard.
The guard takes the bags and rips them apart. After emptying them, he finds nothing in them except sand. He detains Jose overnight and has the sand analyzed, only to discover that there is nothing but pure sand in the bags.
He then releases Jose, puts the sand into new bags, places them onto Jose's shoulders and allows him to cross the border.
A week later, the same thing happens. "What's in the bags?" asks the guard.
"Sand," Jose replies.
Again, the guard does his thorough examination and determines that the bags contain nothing more than sand. He returns the sand to Jose, who crosses the border on his bicycle.
This sequence of events is repeated each and every day for nearly three years. Finally, Jose doesn't show up one day and the guard meets him in a Cantina in Mexico.
"Hey, buddy," the guard says, "I know darn well you're smuggling something and it's driving me nuts. It's all I think about. I can't even sleep. Strictly between you and I, tell me, what is it that you're smuggling?"
"Bicycles!" replies Jose, sipping on his beer.
