Common Uses of Colchicine This medicine is an antigout agent used to treat and prevent pain associated with gouty arthritis. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Possible Colchicine Side Effects Check with your doctor as soon as possible if you experience nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea; skin rash; sore throat; fever; unusual bleeding or bruising; or unusual tiredness or weakness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
General Cautions Before you begin taking new medicine, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. If you are taking this medicine to treat a painful attack of gouty arthritis and you experience nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, stop taking this medicine, even if pain continues, unless your doctor directs otherwise.For Women: this medicine has been shown to cause harm to the human fetus. If you plan on becoming pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. This medicine is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
