In-Depth Credit Card Review |
This online card application is intended for residents of the United States only. For other country options, please refer to the right hand menu bar.
The Gold Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card, issued by American Express®, is designed for businesses with good credit who would like to earn free travel for business-related expenses and travel regularly on Delta Airlines.
Cardholders receive one mile for every dollar spent on general purchases and two miles for every dollar spent at supermarkets, drugstores, gas stations, home improvement and hardware stores, the U.S. Postal Service, on wireless phone bills, and on Delta Air Lines purchases. Cardholders earn 15,000 bonus miles upon their first purchase, and they receive an additional 5,000 bonus miles each for reaching $15,000 and then $25,000 in purchases annually. Cardholders also receive 1,000 bonus miles for each approved additional cardholder submitted with the application for up to five additional cards. Miles do not have an expiration date (if the account is active within a two-year period), and a yearly limit of $100,000 in eligible spending applies. Miles earned can be used in conjunction with Delta's frequent flyer program.
Cardholders will also have access to the exclusive Pay with Miles benefit. Through Pay with Miles, cardholders can pay for a portion or all of their airfare with miles and put any remainder of miles back on the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card. Start redeeming Pay with Miles at 10,000 miles.
Although there is a high annual fee of $95, it is waived for the first year. The APR for purchases and balance transfers is high for a business card and above average for an airline reward card. Therefore, it is not ideal for those who plan to carry a revolving balance. Although there is no introductory APR on purchases, there is a 9.99% APR for the life of the balance on balance transfers submitted during the first six months of membership.
Cardholders can also expect many common benefits and services from the card, such as travel accident insurance, several purchase protection related services, and discounts at participating merchants and retailers. Cardholders receive a savings of 5% for all Delta flights purchased directly from Delta Air Lines, and they will also receive a $99 Companion Certificate every year upon renewing the card.
Therefore, those who will use the card at participating retailers and merchants (to accumulate additional miles) and plan to pay in full each month (to avoid finance charges) will benefit most from what the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card has to offer.
Most Attractive Feature: Bonus miles; double miles at participating retailers (including Delta Air Lines); 0% introductory APR on purchases for six months.
Least Attractive Feature: High annual fee.
